Noble - one more season?
On the back of his superb performance against Man City, there’s talk of Noble not retiring at the end of this season after all and giving us one more season.

It’s clear that he’s still got exceptional fitness levels, running rings around players 10 years his junior and I think he’s deputised expertly when called upon this season.

So if we get in Europe again next season, I can see him again being a valuable commodity as a squad player who can come in when called upon.

Thoughts?

Why stop at 1 he’s only 36, Teddy played until 41 - give him 5 years. Seems sensible.

He’s only 34.

Re: Noble - one more season?
There hasn't been any talk on him retiring.

He's made it perfectly clear that this will be his last playing season here. He'll most likely move on (to the MLS would be my reckoning).

Re: Noble - one more season?

Imho at reasonable wages why not keep him, to replace him will cost 10m+ and there's no one obvious coming thru the academy. Another year isn't a crazy idea.

The Noble haters will no doubt wade in any minute !

Couple of years in the MLS, make a bit of money and get some sunshine, then come back and start a coaching career with us. Lovely.

Can you provide evidence of this 'talk of Noble not retiring'?

Think if it wasn't for the empty stadia he would have retired at the end of last season.
I think he will move straight into a job behind the scenes.
Not on the coaching staff but maybe a player liaison role.

Re: Noble - one more season?
His progress plateaued in his mid 20's. Though he hasn't regressed (well maybe a little in the last few years) he's never really had enough speed, physically or of thought, to play at the very top of the game. His time at West Ham shoud've been over years ago.

Re: Noble - one more season?
He's better than Pirlo and he carried on after 36. Give him another 2 years at least.

Re: Noble - one more season?
Does our upturn in results coincide with Noble being fazed out of the first team?

*throws grenade into the room and runs out*

There you go crossed hammers. I've probably turned this thread into something you wanted.

Give this man a lifetime contract, a statue, the keys to the London Stadium and also to my house.

I thought he’d already retired !!

Billy Bonds retired at 42.

Stanley Matthews at 50.

Although general fitness levels among footballers are higher today, so I'm not being entirely serious in suggesting Noble hangs around as long as them

Erh, no they won't, because not a single poster will give a fuck what you have said.

Yes he retired in 2010 and every game since he has played in has been a testimonial for being a "loyal servant".

No

Re: Noble - one more season?
I wouldn't want him to carry on past this season.

He's been excellent for us, and massively underrated. Not just because of his on pitch performances, but the way in which he's lead the team off the pitch. His influence on Rice cannot be overlooked.

Hope he stays at the club after this year in some capacity.
